Those in positions of authority at La Liga team Sevilla will not be present at this weekend's matchup with Barcelona. Mundo Deportivo claims that this is the case, using the ongoing "Negreira case" as justification. As many will undoubtedly remember, Sevilla's board said in September that they would not be attending any of the events surrounding the team's La Liga away trip to Barcelona. The Nervionenses issued a statement outlining their reasons for declining the invitation to use an executive box at Montjuïc as well as the customary pre-match boardroom meal. Rumors that Ruben Amorim would follow Sporting Lisbon's football director Hugo Viana to Manchester City have been dispelled.
Txiki Begiristain, who is set to depart the team at the end of the current campaign, will be replaced by Viana, the Premier League champions have agreed.Due to Viana's imminent arrival to the Etihad, there has been conjecture about other Portuguese imports, with Amorim being floated as Pep Guardiola's possible replacement.
In 2020–21, the Portuguese coach brought Sporting's 19-year Primeira Liga title drought to an end, and last season, he added another championship.
Guardiola's current deal with the Citizens expires in the summer, and there is no word on a possible extension. City aim to persuade Guardiola to return to the club, but may be obliged to hire a new coach at the conclusion of the season.
However, Amorim has emphasized that Viana's relocation to England will have no bearing on his own destiny.
"Hugo Viana and I have different and separate paths," Amorim stated in comments released by Fabrizio Romano.
"His appointment does not imply that I am heading to Manchester City. We have a very excellent relationship, but it will not stay forever.
New City Chief's 'Magic' in the Transfer Market
Amorim has referred to Viana's efforts in the transfer market, which have brought in Viktor Gyokeres and Ousmane Diomande and helped Sporting become the Portuguese champions, as "magic."According to the BBC, Amorim stated, "Viana has repeatedly demonstrated that he is capable of magic."
"We must keep in mind that we are competing against financially stronger clubs, so we must work much harder, present our project, and demonstrate our performance history in the transfer market."
