Borussia Dortmund fired Sahin.

Borussia Dortmund has fired head coach Nuri Sahin following a disappointing start to 2025. The decision was made following Tuesday's 2-1 Champions League defeat to Bologna. "We have a high regard for Nuri Sahin's work. We had wanted to work together for a long time and hoped until the end that we could achieve a sporting turnaround," said Lars Ricken, Borussia Dortmund's managing director for sport. "However, after four consecutive defeats, only one win in the last nine games, and currently tenth in the Bundesliga, we have unfortunately lost faith in our ability to achieve our sporting goals under the current circumstances. This decision hurts me personally, but it was unavoidable following the game in Bologna. Sahin, who took over for Edin Terzic last summer, stated: "Unfortunately, we have been unable to meet Borussia Dortmund's sporting goals at this stage of the season. I wish this special club the best." Borussia Dortmund will announce w...

Aston Villa are apparently interested in Malen.

Donyell Malen, who has long been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund, could leave in January. According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa have surfaced as potential bidders for the Dutch winger. According to reports, Dortmund would demand around €30 million for Malen, who has approximately 18 months left on his contract. BVB paid exactly that amount to recruit him from PSV in the summer of 2021. This season, Malen has made only ten starts for the Black and Yellows across all competitions.

After goals in the first half, 10-man Borussia Dortmund holds on against Wolfsburg.

Borussia Dortmund ended a string of three straight draws against Wolfsburg by scoring three goals in five minutes of the first half. Donyell Malen's spectacular move from a corner gave the Bundesliga powerhouses the lead shortly after the halfway mark of the first half, and they rightfully seized the lead. Maximilian Beier scored a second goal after running onto a through pass from Julian Brandt, opening the floodgates at the Volkswagen Arena. After two minutes, the roles were switched, with Beier setting up Brandt to appear to end the game in less than 30 minutes. After the half, however, Wolfsburg was a different team and grabbed one back shortly before the hour, and four minutes later, Pascal Gross was sent off, leaving Dortmund clutching on in fear. However, they were unable to produce a second goal to turn it into a real match despite intense Wolfsburg pressure, and the Black and Yellow's strong defense allowed them to secure a vital three points.

💫 Real stuns Dortmund with comeback.

Vini runs riot as Real stun Dortmund with a comeback. Real Madrid rallied from two goals down to stun Borussia Dortmund 5-2 in another typically incredible comeback led by Ballon d'Or elect Vini Jr. Dortmund startled the Bernabeu with two goals inside four minutes of the first half. On the half-hour mark, Donyell Malen scored after Serhou Guirassy beautifully threaded the ball into him. Malen then turned provider, crossing the ball from the right for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to stretch out and tap into an open goal. At halftime, it appeared that a tiny measure of revenge for last season's Champions League final was on the way. However, as they always do, Real fought back, first cutting the score on the hour mark through Antonio Rüdiger. The German defender soared to head home from close range after Kylian Mbappé's excellent cross into the box. Just three minutes later, the score was 2-2, with Mbappé again playing a role. The striker was brought in, but before he could shoot, t...

Bynoe-Gittens leads BVB to a historic victory at the Bernabéu stadium.

Borussia Dortmund is out for retribution at the Santiago Bernabéu after losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid last season. The German giants took advantage of Real's poor start in the new tournament, scoring two fast goals to surprise the home crowd in the first half. Dortmund are always a team to watch because of their youthful enthusiasm, but they stunned the champions by scoring two goals in four minutes. After Donyell Malen finished off a fantastic team play to open the scoring, the visitors ripped the hosts' defence apart once more before the Dutchman slid in Jamie Bynoe-Gittens for a tap-in second goal. Jamie Gittens is the youngest Englishmen ever to score vs Real Madrid in the Champions League (20y 75d). 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 And with that goal, the former Manchester City youth player created history in Spain's capital, becoming the youngest Englishman to score against Real Madrid in the Champions League. Dortmund struggles as Bochum defeats Signal Iduna early.

Borussia Dortmund is reeling after falling down two goals at home in the first half against winless VfL Bochum. Following an ugly 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart the previous day, BVB were eager for a home win to stem the flow of negative feelings among their fans. But it was the worst possible start against winless Bochum on Friday at Signal Iduna Park, with two goals conceded in the first 21 minutes, including a calamitous mistake by goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Dortmund is now ninth in the Bundesliga league, and their situation could deteriorate significantly by the end of the weekend if they do not improve tonight. Serhou Guirassy's goal in the dying minutes of the first half gave the hosts hope for a comeback. Could this be the catalyst?

Stuttgart defeats Borussia Dortmund to put an end to Şahin's winning streak.

Stuttgart handily defeated Borussia Dortmund, ending their undefeated start to the Bundesliga season. Four minutes into the match, Deniz Undav's maneuver past Gregor Kobel put Nuri Şahin's team behind. By the halfway point of the first half, striker Ermedin Demirović's nod gave his team a commanding lead. Dortmund was unable to establish any kind of rhythm, and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens' attempt was stopped in the last minute of first-half stoppage time before they managed to register an effort on goal. That error proved costly since Stuttgart extended their lead even more in the second half when Enzo Millot added a third goal shortly after the hour. Serhou Guirassy, a former player for Stuttgart, gave Dortmund a goal back, but any dreams of a rallying cry were dashed as it took the home team just five minutes to reclaim their three-goal advantage, with El-Bilal Touré scoring just one minute after substituting. Undav scored again, adding the finishing touches to a crushin...

Dortmund youngster Youssoufa Moukoko joins Nice on loan.

Borussia Dortmund has revealed that forward Youssoufa Moukoko will join French club Nice on a season-long loan. Moukoko faced enormous expectations when he joined the Dortmund club at the age of 15 four years ago. However, things haven't gone as planned for the teenager, who has been a source of frustration for the Schwarzgelben since then. After being told he is surplus to requirements by Nuri Şahin, the Germany international has moved to the Ligue 1 side for the rest of the season. Nice dropped their first game of the season to Auxerre last weekend.

Why Jadon Sancho was left out of Manchester United's squad for the game against Brighton.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag confessed "some issues" caused Jadon Sancho to be left out of a Premier League matchday squad for the second time in a row. Sancho, who appeared to have reintegrated throughout preseason following his fallout with Ten Hag last year, was absent again when United's team for the match against Brighton & Hove Albion was announced on Saturday. The winger had already missed the Premier League opener against Fulham just over a week earlier, though he did play in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium. "He is here, but we had some issues," Ten Hag told TNT Sports just before kickoff at the Amex Stadium, without providing any further specifics. "I had a decision to make. He needs to compete for his position. We need doubles in every position on the roster because the season will be long." Ten Hag chose an unchanged starting lineup against Brighton, with Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo flanking club captain Bruno Fernande...

Manchester United must give Jadon Sancho one more opportunity to excel.

Manchester United and Jadon Sancho have a complicated and interconnected history. Chased obsessively in the summer of 2020, only for Borussia Dortmund to claim they were never close to selling the player to United, before completing a far more structured transaction in 2021. In a summer of tremendous fanfare with the additions of himself, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo, much was anticipated of the Englishman, but he has produced very little. 12 goals in 82 matches tells its own tale about the 24-year-old. In truth, he spent the first half of last season frozen out owing to a very public falling out with Erik ten Hag, and the second half of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where they reached the Champions League final. It was assumed that the winger would be sold this summer, with a move to Juventus being rumored, but the beginning of this month saw a reunion between Sancho and Ten Hag, and he has played an important role in all of the club's pre-season games, and he...

The Hammers are reported to have paid approximately £27 million to sign the 31-year-old, effectively ending their search for a new star striker. Fullkrug was linked with Atletico Madrid and AC Milan, but he ultimately chose to join West Ham. "I'm delighted to be here, and I can't wait to get out on the pitch with my new teammates," Fullkrug told club channels. "I believe the Premier League is the best league in the world, and now is the right time for me to move to England and play for a big club like West Ham." "I've been thinking about West Ham for a long time; I know the Technical Director, Tim Steidten, from our time at Werder Bremen, and I've watched some games to see how good the team is.  "The opportunity to play for the Head Coach [Julen Lopetegui] is obviously quite thrilling. His playing style is crucial to me, and I am convinced that und...

Borussia Dortmund reached a full agreement with Serhou Guirassy.

According to Sky Germany, Borussia Dortmund has agreed to terms with VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy. As previously reported, Die Schwarzgelben hoped to achieve a final agreement with the Guinea international by the end of this week. However, there were questions over the length of Guirassy's contract. Initially, Dortmund planned to grant the 28-year-old a three-year contract with the option of extending for another year. Nonetheless, all sides have agreed to a four-year deal that will keep the marksman at BvB until 2029. Guirassy is expected to undergo a physical before his €18 million move to the Westfalenstadion before the end of the week, as the Champions League runners-up want to complete the transaction as soon as possible. There is also anticipation in the Dortmund camp that Guirassy will attend his first training session with the group before the start of the new week.

Napoli are allegedly considering competing with Roma for experienced Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. The 35-year-old German centre back is set to depart the Bundesliga giants on a free transfer at the end of the month, preferring to stay in Europe rather than move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS. Daniele De Rossi's Roma have been targeting Hummels for weeks, hoping to add the veteran defender to their team as they seek a return to the Champions League, feeling he is the ideal replacement for Chris Smalling. Nuri Şahin has been appointed as the new Borussia Dortmund head coach.

Borussia Dortmund has named Nuri Şahin as their next head coach. In December 2023, Şahin returned to Signal Iduna Park as an assistant to Edin Terzić, having previously played there twice. Terzić's departure on Thursday resulted in a three-year contract for the club's new manager, a former Turkish international. “It is a great honour for me to be the coach of Borussia Dortmund,” stated Şahin. "I'd like to thank everyone in charge at the club for their confidence in me. I'm definitely looking forward to working at BVB. "From day one, we will do everything we can with a lot of energy and great passion to achieve the maximum possible success." "It was an incredible honor to win the DFB Cup with BVB and lead this magnificent team to the Champions League final.
