Why the board of Sevilla has declined to go to the forthcoming match against Barcelona.

Those in positions of authority at La Liga team Sevilla will not be present at this weekend's matchup with Barcelona. Mundo Deportivo claims that this is the case, using the ongoing "Negreira case" as justification. As many will undoubtedly remember, Sevilla's board said in September that they would not be attending any of the events surrounding the team's La Liga away trip to Barcelona. The Nervionenses issued a statement outlining their reasons for declining the invitation to use an executive box at Montjuïc as well as the customary pre-match boardroom meal. As stated in the order circulated in the media, "complete indignation and rejection of the practices carried out by the former FC Barcelona leaders accused in the Negreira case, practices that supposedly constitute a crime for the Investigating Court number 1 of Barcelona." Furthermore, as previously said, the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán's leadership has not changed their position in the 12 mont

Kylian Mbappé prioritizes playing 'essential' France matches in pursuit of the 2025 Ballon d'Or award.

The 25-year-old Kylian Mbappé is in the middle of a maelstrom. For the current international break, Les Bleus did not include the captain of France in their roster. It followed a thigh injury that was originally expected to keep him out of action for the duration of the international break.

He did, however, recuperate in time to play Lille OSC in the UEFA Champions League the night before Didier Deschamps announced his starting lineup. Mbappé was not included in the squad despite his rehabilitation, citing his recuperation from an injury. When he started for Real Madrid against Villarreal in their last game before the international break, that argument, however, lost credibility.

Both Deschamps and FFF President Philippe Diallo have downplayed the controversy surrounding Mbappé's absence. Both have claimed that the choice was made after consulting with the former Paris Saint-Germain forward and with player welfare in mind.

While that storm appeared to be subsiding, it flared up again on Thursday night, when Mbappé was seen in Stockholm, Sweden, while Les Bleus were playing Israel in the UEFA Nations League. According to Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet, he was at the restaurant Chez Jolie before heading to the nightclub 'V'. This report was accompanied by photographs of the Real Madrid forward wearing a mask and headgear.

Mbappé made it known that he was not interested in playing during the current international break.

Mbappé's absence has now been further detailed by Foot Mercato. According to the source, he had already expressed his distaste for playing in the current international break, which featured matches against Israel and Belgium, during the previous international break in September. He was transparent about this, and many in the French system knew it.

His captain "wasn't in the best condition psychologically" during that break, according to what Deschamps stated earlier this month. France supporters particularly heckled him after he said he didn't give a damn about their displeasure with Les Bleus' ugly, defensive style of play.

According to Foot Mercato, Mbappé has made winning the Ballon d'Or in 2025 a priority, and in order to do so, he only wants to play in "important" France matches to avoid injuring himself and jeopardising his dream.

Recently, Mbappé's absence has prompted calls from certain former France internationals to remove the armband from the former PSG attacker, while the Irresistibles Francais, the national team's biggest supporter group, stated that Mbappé's absence was "not normal" given his status as captain.
