When the moment is right, we'll see. Naturally, the DFB is delighted to have Julian Nagelsmann," Völler stated.
Nagelsmann "can only decide for himself" whether to continue after the World Cup, Völler added in an interview with Die Welt.
"He's a young guy who might have ambitions to do something else."
Nagelsmann responded to Völler's remarks at a press conference on Sunday evening, leaving everything open.
"When you accept the position, you have a strong conviction. We performed admirably at the European Championship and accomplished a great deal in terms of football. I don't know if we'll be working together after 2026," Nagelsmann stated.
"I am really comfortable in this position. I can envision everything, but there's still plenty of time," he said.
