Gabriel Jesus, an Arsenal striker, is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to an ACL injury.
Mikel Arteta acknowledged that he is "very worried" for Gabriel Jesus, an Arsenal striker who had an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Following a consultation with a doctor, Jesus' ACL injury was verified after he was removed on a stretcher during Arsenal's FA Cup loss to Manchester United on Sunday.
In the most recent setback to the Gunners this season, the 27-year-old will miss a lengthy amount of time due to a major knee injury ahead of Wednesday's north London derby.
Although no date has been given, it seems likely that Jesus will miss the rest of the campaign to exacerbate Arteta's problems. While skipper Martin Odegaard missed many months earlier this season due to an ankle injury, Bukayo Saka is currently out with a hamstring issue.
"Further to being substituted with an injury during our match against Manchester United on Sunday, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, scans, and specialist reviews which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee," acknowledged the club in a statement.
"He will shortly start his recuperation and rehabilitation program after undergoing surgery in the next few days. Everyone at the club is totally focused on helping him get back to full fitness as quickly as possible, and we will keep everyone informed about [his] recuperation.
As Arteta's forward resources run low, young forward Ethan Nwaneri is also now out.
The manager of Arsenal had earlier told a press conference on Tuesday, "It's not looking good at all, but we need to review with the specialist and will have more information this afternoon." "We were very worried straight after the game and we are very worried today."
Arteta stated that Arsenal is still open to options to bolster the team, but he did not specify whether the club would try to acquire another striker in the January transfer window.
Kai Havertz had a tough afternoon as Arsenal was eliminated from the FA Cup, and the Gunners have had trouble scoring goals in recent games.
This month, Alexander Isak of Newcastle and Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus were connected to the Premier League championship contenders.
"My response remains unchanged. In an effort to strengthen the team, we are continuously searching the market. It would be naïve not to, as we always have been," Arteta stated.
"Let's see what we can do; we're trying and we're looking. Three parties must consent before a player may be recruited. Even if I adore my players, we can still consider ways to get better.
"We must make sure we have the best resources and capabilities to compete the way we want to when the market comes around, which is what we do every day.
