Sarina Wiegman anticipates a new era for England's Lionesses in the next match against Germany.

England hosts Germany in a replay of the Euro 2022 final at Wembley.

Sarina Wiegman maintains she will always remember England's European Championship victory, but she is looking forward to more success as the Lionesses prepare for the next competition in 2025.

England will face Germany at Wembley Stadium on Friday in a rematch of the Euro 2022 final, which saw Wiegman's team win their first major championship with goals from Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly.

During a press conference at St George's Park, Wiegman stated, "We will always cherish that - it's one of the big moments in my career and life, but now is now; moving forward, it's a completely different team."

"We've moved on, and the next Euros begin next summer.

"You always want to go faster, but the league's level has improved, as has international football; it has developed, which is what we want, but it means we must also develop.

"We just know where we want to be on July 2, and qualifying begins after tomorrow evening. Since two years ago, the team has experienced numerous changes.

"They (Germany) have a new coach so may do other things, it's a good challenge because we don't exactly know what they will do but is a good experience for us to have tomorrow at the highest level."

Captain Leah Williamson has recovered from a long-term knee injury to retake her position at the heart of Wiegman's defence, and she is expected to start on Friday.

Leah Williamson won Euro 2022, but wants to transfer focus to the future.

The 27-year-old, like Wiegman, has happy recollections of two years ago, but emphasized the importance of continued success in Switzerland in 2025.

She stated, "I will never tire of talking about it, but we have a new objective and a completely different event to play.

"It's exciting, and I'm sure many people in the stadium wish they'd been there two years ago.

"It's nice, a great memory, but we only have one (Euro win), whereas Germany has many. It's a fantastic fixture, but we're looking ahead to the next event."

England has scheduled four friendly over the next several months, with South Africa, the United States, and Switzerland coming after Germany.

The Lionesses have previously drawn record crowds to Wembley Stadium for their matches.

Friday's game is anticipated to draw a smaller audience of 54,000, but Wiegman and Williamson believe that number is still excellent.

Wiegman stated, "It's quite fantastic that we'll be playing at Wembley Stadium twice, with over 100,000 people attending.

"Of course Wembley can have more people, so hopefully more people can come but we are thinking big and having the opportunity for people to come to the game, we are happy with the amount of people coming to the game."

Williamson added: "If you consider playing two games at Wembley Stadium so close together a few years ago, it would not have happened - 54,000 is still far more than most countries would host.

"We have a vision, we have always dreamt the biggest but it's a step in the right direction and hopefully the way we play tomorrow will bring more people for the next games - that's our job."
