Daniel Caligiuri, DFB Pokal champion, retires from football.

Daniel Caligiuri made his Bundesliga debut in 2009, assisting Freiburg's opening goal in a 2-1 victory over Bochum. He made his final Bundesliga appearance with Augsburg 14 years later, in the 2022-23 season. He played 372 Bundesliga games for Freiburg, Wolfsburg, Schalke, and Augsburg before joining FC 08 Villingen, his hometown club. Caligiuri's previous club earned promotion to the Regionalliga. While Kevin De Bruyne and Bas Dost were key players in Wolfsburg's cup victory in 2015, Caligiuri was also impressive. He had two goals and five assists in a season that ended with a comeback victory over Dortmund in Jurgen Klopp's final game. He scored 51 Bundesliga goals, some of which were remarkable.
