Man United have requested a meeting with Alphonso Davies and his agent in January to discuss a potential transfer.

Manchester United have reportedly requested a meeting with Bayern Munich player Alphonso Davies and his agent in January to try to strike an agreement on a free transfer.

The left-back position is thought to be an area of the pitch that United would like to reinforce, either during the winter or summer transfer season.

Luke Shaw's injury woes appear to be far from done, as he recently picked up another condition that will keep him out for several weeks.

Ruben Amorim currently has only one natural left-back available for selection: Tyrell Malacia. However, there are still concerns about the Dutchman's conditioning following an extended stint on the sidelines.

Malacia played only 45 minutes in his two appearances since his return to action, against Bodo/Glimt and Arsenal, before being replaced.

In his post-match press conference following the Arsenal game, Amorim admitted that Malacia's minutes are currently being reduced to ensure that he is gradually eased back.

Davies, Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), Antonee Robinson (Fulham), Alvaro Fernandez (Benfica), and Theo Hernandez (AC Milan) are among the left-backs with whom United is still associated.

Davies, in particular, is regarded to be a prominent target for United, given his impending free agency.

The Canadian international has yet to agree on terms for a new deal with Bayern, and if talks do not progress, he will be free to negotiate with other teams in January.

According to The Peoples Person, Bayern has made great headway toward a new agreement for the lightning-quick full-back.

Negotiations are reportedly going well, with Davies eager to stay at the Allianz Arena. According to the article, United are aware that Davies' time in Bavaria will most likely be extended.

However, according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, Bayern have yet to accept Davies' requests.

Falk goes on to say that United is attempting to arrange a meeting with the 24-year-old player and his representatives in January, presumably to persuade him to join the Red Devils.

Falk had posted on X: "Manchester United have asked Alphonso Davies (24) and his Manager for a Meeting in January."

"Davies is a free Agent in Summer and he can then negotiate and sign with another club from January 1st."

"Bayern have not yet accepted the demand of €16 million salary per year and €15 million signing fee."

Davies has made 19 appearances in all competitions this season, providing three assists.
