Ivan Juric, manager of Southampton, feels Liverpool should have been given a penalty in the second half of their 3-1 loss at Anfield on Saturday. Will Smallbone gave the Saints an unexpected lead in stoppage time of the first half, but Darin Nunez quickly erased the lead. Mo Salah scored two penalty penalties in the second half to give Liverpool the victory, but Juric thought the first one was unfair. There didn't appear to be much in the area as Smallbone and Nunez collided, but referee Lewis Smith gave the penalty. Juric, the Southampton manager, is furious at Liverpool's penalty call. "They responded quite well," Juric said to BBC Sport. "We had some excellent first-half situations. The match was altered, in my opinion, by the [first] penalty, which was not a penalty. I'm happy with the way we performed today. "This can never be a punishment. Since it was 1-1 and somewhat altered the outcome, I apologize for what happened. Many of our yo...
Spurs' 1-0 first-leg loss means the possibility of winning a trophy this season is in jeopardy after their lackluster performance at the AFAS Stadion on Thursday.
Bournemouth and highly regarded manager Andoni Iraola arrive ready to put more pressure on Postecoglou, who will have crucial players Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero available, as Tottenham tries to advance to the Europa League quarterfinals.
"Sunday first is the season's biggest game," Postecoglou stated.
"On Thursday night, we must win; otherwise, we will be eliminated. Yes, it's the biggest game in that aspect because it's the last competition remaining for us to try to win something, but I have to make sure that none of them are considering that.
"Sunday is really important to us, so I have to make sure they are all considering it.
"Come Monday morning, we have four days to get ready for a game in which we are behind 1-0. Our focus should be on that game, but in the meanwhile, I think it's crucial that we perform well and defeat Bournemouth.
"We can't ignore the fact that we still need to move up the table."
Van de Ven and Romero were kept on the bench because of the bad surface in Alkmaar, Postecoglou explained on Friday. Despite suffering a nasty hit to his back late in the game, Dominic Solanke might play against his old team.
Tottenham's lack of consistency has plagued them throughout the season. Notable victories over Aston Villa and Manchester City in November were interspersed with a lackluster showing in a home loss to Ipswich, and a superb victory over Liverpool in January was followed by a 2-1 loss to Leicester.
Postecoglou agreed that a lack of "middle ground" has been a problem, but injuries haven't helped.

Postecoglou agreed that a lack of "middle ground" has been a problem, but injuries haven't helped.
"We've either played teams off the park and won really convincingly or lost," Postecoglou continued. There hasn't been a compromise, and consistency requires a compromise.
That was once more apparent at Alkmaar. Even though we weren't very good, we shouldn't have lost that game.
"You get away with a draw and return with a different scenario if our attitude was correct. This year, the league has seen numerous instances of that.
That is a component of our problem, and while our squad situation can account for some of it, our strategy and ability to salvage a game that isn't going our way can also account for some of it.
"Again, in my opinion, what matters is that we become a little more consistent in our approach, and I am convinced that we don't have to be afraid of anyone when we play our best football, which we have done at times this season."
Van de Ven and Romero's availability will be very beneficial, especially considering that their last regular game was in October.
After a two-and-a-half-month hiatus, goalie Guglielmo Vicario has proven his worth in recent weeks. However, on Thursday, he appeared to ask the visiting Tottenham supporters to cheer up, which infuriated them.
"Vic simply exudes passion." Postecoglou continued, "He wants everyone to persevere and achieve something."
"That guy made every effort to return as soon as possible." Why? since he is concerned. He is concerned this morning, just as he was last night.
"He is a fantastic asset to this football team."
