The Southampton manager is furious at the contentious Liverpool penalty call.

Ivan Juric, manager of Southampton, feels Liverpool should have been given a penalty in the second half of their 3-1 loss at Anfield on Saturday. Will Smallbone gave the Saints an unexpected lead in stoppage time of the first half, but Darin Nunez quickly erased the lead. Mo Salah scored two penalty penalties in the second half to give Liverpool the victory, but Juric thought the first one was unfair. There didn't appear to be much in the area as Smallbone and Nunez collided, but referee Lewis Smith gave the penalty. Juric, the Southampton manager, is furious at Liverpool's penalty call. "They responded quite well," Juric said to BBC Sport. "We had some excellent first-half situations. The match was altered, in my opinion, by the [first] penalty, which was not a penalty. I'm happy with the way we performed today. "This can never be a punishment. Since it was 1-1 and somewhat altered the outcome, I apologize for what happened. Many of our yo...

Neymar returns to the national team to revitalize Brazil's fortunes.

Brazil's number 10 shirt is arguably the most famous in world soccer history.

From Pelé to Ronaldinho, Zico to Rivaldo, La Seleçao's yellow number 10 shirt carries a weight and responsibility that only the brightest Brazilian stars are capable of shouldering.

Following Ronaldinho's retirement, Neymar Jr. inherited the honor and burden of wearing the number 10 on the back of his shirt. On June 2, 2013, Neymar wore the iconic shirt number for the first time; a month later, he led Brazil to the Confederations Cup title, defeating reigning World Cup champions Spain 3-0 in the final. Two months later, he made his European soccer debut for Barcelona.

The rest is history; Neymar grew into one of the best players of the twenty-first century, wearing the number ten jersey in three World Cups for Brazil, becoming the country's all-time leading scorer with 79 goals and the second most capped player in history.

Fast forward to the present day, and the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain player hasn't played for Brazil since tearing his ACL in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay on October 18, 2023.

Rodrygo of Real Madrid, with Neymar's approval, will wear the number 10 shirt in the Copa América de 2024. During the most recent international break, Raphinha had the number on his back. The Barcelona winger went on to score while wearing the legendary shirt, paying tribute to Neymar with his iconic celebration.

Now, nearly 17 months after his knee injury, Neymar is officially back with Seleçao, and the number 10 shirt will be returned to its rightful owner.

When discussing Neymar's return, manager Dorival Júnior stated that "even his own teammates have highlighted the significance he [Neymar] has on the group."

Neymar will make his much-anticipated return to Brazil in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The Seleçao will host Colombia before traveling to Buenos Aires for a South American derby against Argentina, where Neymar will reunite with his friend, former teammate, and fellow number 10, Lionel Messi.

The hope is that Neymar will help Brazil return to form in the qualifiers and secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup. Once there, Brazil's number 10 expressed his desire to compete in his fourth World Cup, hoping to lead the team in their quest to end a 24-year drought and add a sixth star to the most decorated badge in international soccer.

Thierry Henry was denied a joyful homecoming as France was defeated by gold medal winners Spain.

Exactly 36 years after Vinnie Jones, Dave Beasant, Lawrie Sanchez, and others ripped up the rulebook to propel Bobby Gould's Wimbledon to a storied FA Cup victory, Thierry Henry's France fell agonisingly short of capturing an emotional Olympic gold medal in front of a sold-out Parc des Princes in Paris. Henry, who gave his young French team the nickname the 'Crazy Ones' due to their fun-loving nature, won nearly everything as a player, and despite the stars appearing to align for a historic gold medal on home turf, the Arsenal legend was overshadowed by Santi Denia's slick Spaniards in a dramatic 5-3 extra-time defeat. Sergio Camello of Rayo Vallecano was their unexpected late nemesis, dunking French goalkeeper Guillaume Restes with 100 minutes on the clock to startle a stunned capacity crowd. And he delivered a virtual carbon copy of that finish with the game's final kick, charging in on goal as the French flung bodies forward to slot past Restes and cruelly ...
