Unai Emery says Aston Villa are 'motivated and thrilled' for their match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Unai Emery, Aston Villa's manager, says his team will travel to Paris for the opening leg of the Champions League quarter-finals with confidence after winning seven straight games.
Villa defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1, increasing their prospects of returning to Europe's biggest stage next season, due to goals from Morgan Rogers and Donyell Malen in the first 15 minutes.
They have significant momentum as they aim for a second consecutive year of Champions League qualification.
They can still do so by winning this year's championship, and they now face Paris St Germain in the club's biggest game since their European Cup quarter-final loss to Juventus in 1982.
"We're motivated. "We're excited," said former PSG manager Emery ahead of his return to the Parc des Princes.
"They are favourites, but we are going to try to play those two matches as well as possible, competing and analysing how we need to adapt to them, how we can impose and dominate with our tactical structure."
"We are highly driven to prepare for those matches.
"This is a different match than today; we will analyze and determine how we can confront Paris St Germain. We're going to prepare two legs.
"Everything we do, we analyze and try to improve. There are many great aspects, as well as certain areas where I believe we can improve."
Forest have aspirations to play in the Champions League next season, but they were damaged by a defeat that could have been a draw.
Jota Silva hauled them back into the game in the second half, but they squandered numerous chances to equalize in the absence of injured forwards Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi.
When asked if the outcome would have been different if one of those players had been fit, manager Nuno Espirito Santo responded, "We never know. What we did was try to find solutions.
"But for me, football is all about strikers, you know. So we miss Chris, and you miss 'T', because the way we play and do things requires a reference player.
"It's very harsh for Anthony (Elanga), Callum (Hudson-Odoi), Jota (Silva), and Roman (Sosa) to do the same. It is not the same.
"This was perhaps one of the matches in which we created more opportunities. Disappointed. Not only are we disappointed with the opportunities we generated but failed to take advantage of.
"I think the way we started the game in the first half was bad, but the second half was much better. But the sense is one of disappointment.
