A new date has been set for Manchester City's legal dispute with the Premier League, as 115 charges await a judgment.

Manchester City and the Premier League now have a new date for their upcoming legal clash later this year. Legal representatives of the four-time Premier League champions originally challenged the top flight over the rules in January 2024, with the tribunal determining in October 2024 that three sections of the rules were invalid. Following a second hearing, a ruling was issued earlier this year determining that all of the restrictions must be unlawful, although Manchester City continues to think that the modified APT rules are anti-competitive and violate public law principles. Manchester City wanted to sign new sponsorship deals with Etihad Airways and First Abu Dhabi Bank in 2023, and they submitted the proposals to the Premier League for approval, but they were denied due to a lack of fair-market value under the Associated Party Transaction guidelines. According to The Lawyer Magazine, Manchester City's appeal to the Premier League's new rules governing commercial tra...

Virgil van Dijk predicts a 'great summer' for Liverpool during the transfer window.

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk anticipates a busy summer in the transfer market as the club seeks to build on their upcoming Premier League title success.

The Reds' 2-1 triumph at home over West Ham, secured by the centre-back's 89th-minute goal, puts them six points away from a record-equalling 20th title.

Van Dijk's future is expected to be secured later this week with the announcement of a two-year contract to match Mohamed Salah's commitment made on Friday, but with primary rivals Manchester City and Arsenal set to reinforce, Liverpool cannot afford to stand still.

Forward Federico Chiesa was the lone addition to head coach Arne Slot's team, but he has not even played a minor role, and more reinforcements are required in all three areas of the game.

"I believe Liverpool will be able to challenge for titles in the coming years," said Van Dijk, who led the squad for the 100th time against West Ham.

"Whatever happens in terms of players leaving and coming in, I believe it will be a big summer. I believe they intend to make it a big summer, so we all have to trust the board to do the right thing.

"I believe we can 100% improve. I believe we should not ignore the Premier League's excellence, particularly this season. It's amazing how everyone can outperform everyone.

"Brentford drew at Arsenal, while Chelsea and Ipswich drew. We obviously lost to Fulham last week, so we cannot forget that either.

"This year, there is a training camp and time for the players to work on what the manager wants, which I believe will help the team grow.

"I think a proper pre-season would definitely help the club in order to be even more consistent than we already have been."

Salah delivers more consistently than anyone else.

In route for his fourth Golden Boot in eight years, the Egypt international created a new Premier League record for a 38-game season by assisting Luis Diaz's opening on his 45th appearance.

The resolution of his long-running contract drama, as well as Van Dijk's, will bring a big boost to the club.

"You can't put it in words how consistent he is," the Dutchman said.

"Obviously his numbers but the work-rate he's put in over those last eight years at the club is incredible and he can still show it for another few years."

Van Dijk is poised to become only the second Liverpool captain to win the Premier League championship, and he hopes to add to that record.

"Being successful with Liverpool, the culture of the club, everything that embodies Liverpool - that is just part of me," said the former Liverpool player.

"I enjoy the club, which is quite evident. I believe you can see this in the way I speak about the club and the way I work for the club, both on and off the pitch, and it will remain consistent.

"We're two wins and six points away from greatness. I understand what it means to the club and what it will mean for us if it happens. Most of the players don't, so when it comes, it will be wonderful, but we still have work to do.

Thierry Henry was denied a joyful homecoming as France was defeated by gold medal winners Spain.

Exactly 36 years after Vinnie Jones, Dave Beasant, Lawrie Sanchez, and others ripped up the rulebook to propel Bobby Gould's Wimbledon to a storied FA Cup victory, Thierry Henry's France fell agonisingly short of capturing an emotional Olympic gold medal in front of a sold-out Parc des Princes in Paris. Henry, who gave his young French team the nickname the 'Crazy Ones' due to their fun-loving nature, won nearly everything as a player, and despite the stars appearing to align for a historic gold medal on home turf, the Arsenal legend was overshadowed by Santi Denia's slick Spaniards in a dramatic 5-3 extra-time defeat. Sergio Camello of Rayo Vallecano was their unexpected late nemesis, dunking French goalkeeper Guillaume Restes with 100 minutes on the clock to startle a stunned capacity crowd. And he delivered a virtual carbon copy of that finish with the game's final kick, charging in on goal as the French flung bodies forward to slot past Restes and cruelly ...
