Xabi Alonso says he will be leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the current campaign.

Ahead of Saturday's match against Borussia Dortmund, Xabi Alonso, the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, announced that he will be leaving the team at the conclusion of the season.

After Leverkusen's final Bundesliga game against Mainz on Saturday, May 17, Alonso, who joined the team in October 2022, will bid adieu to BayArena.

"I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Bayer Leverkusen, my players and staff, everyone at the club, and, last but not least, the fantastic fans," Alonso stated in a statement. "Our success was the result of an outstanding team performance."

I want to express my gratitude and love to everyone who made this victory possible, especially the Berlin cup win. Leverkusen is prepared for what lies next.
