This season, Arsenal has lost to the French champions, joining Premier League rivals Manchester City, Liverpool, and Aston Villa.
After his Paris Saint-Germain team eliminated Arsenal from the Champions League, Luis Enrique responded to criticism of the league's quality.
The Gunners held PSG back for extended periods of the first half before Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring with a volley and Achraf Hakimi added a second goal after the interval. It was a hard-fought victory for PSG in the second leg of the semi-final.
PSG has a solid record versus Premier League teams this season; after defeating Manchester City in the league stage, they have already eliminated Aston Villa and Liverpool.
Many punters have derisively referred to Ligue 1 as a "farmers league" because it has the lowest standards among the top five leagues in Europe. Enrique brushed aside this notion.
When asked if he was pleased with defeating the Premier League's top two teams this season, the Spaniard chuckled and said, "The league of farmers, no? The League of Farmers is who we are!
Enrique went on to add that his team was flourishing in the international limelight.
In addition to the outcome, he added, "we are now enjoying the confidence of everyone speaking about our team."
Even though we are a young team, we have a good mindset, good spirit, and good football skill.
"Getting to the final means a lot. A great deal. A Champions League final was our dream. Making history was our first objective when we got to Paris, and we are headed in the right direction.
Enrique is not taking anything for granted as he prepares for the final, in which PSG will play Inter Milan in Munich later this month.
"It will be difficult," he remarked. However, I believe [Inter] feel the same way. The final will be fascinating and challenging for both teams.
We have time to examine Inter, but I believe they are a fantastic team because they are making it to their second final in three years. It is now time to rejoice.
