🚨 Sheffield United relegated from the Premier League.

Sheffield United are the first team to be officially demoted from the Premier League this season.

The Blades have had a terrible season, winning only three games and conceding a record-breaking 97 goals with three games remaining.

It is a record for a 38-game season and falls just three short of Swindon's all-time Premier League record, which is expected to be broken in the coming weeks.

Their long-feared fate has now been confirmed by a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St James' Park, with the Blades taking an early lead but finally losing.

It leaves them with only 16 points and nine to play for, meaning they can no longer reach 17th-placed Nottingham Forest (who have 26 points).
