Ben Chilwell set for Chelsea comeback in Carabao Cup tie against Barrow

Ben Chilwell, a defender for Chelsea, is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup against League Two leaders Barrow after recovering from a cold.

After being informed he had no future at Stamford Bridge, the England left-back appeared certain to depart the Blues in the summer.

After bringing Chilwell back into first-team training, head coach Enzo Maresca revealed last week that the circumstances had changed and that he now intended to include him in his matchday squad for the third-round cup match.

When asked if the 27-year-old would be included, Maresca replied, "I believe so." I hope tomorrow we can get him a few minutes.

It was his intention to go away. He is a member of the squad and is training right now.

"Hopefully, we can give him some minutes tomorrow as he will be in the squad."

Chilwell made his final competitive appearance on April 20 in Chelsea's 1-0 FA Cup semi-final loss to Manchester City, playing a brief two-minute cameo.

He hasn't started a game since England's 2-2 friendly tie with Belgium on March 26 because to hamstring and knee ailments from last season.

When a strong side from 64 spots below the top of the football pyramid comes to town, Maresca intends to rotate his team.

The Italian pushed his bench players to take advantage of the chance.

He remarked, "They are players who train very well every day, but unfortunately I cannot give them chances."

"Tomorrow is a great opportunity for all the players who aren't getting many chances to get minutes and hopefully win a game."
