Andrea Berta expressed respect for Arsenal's recent development as he was named as the club's new sports director.The Italian is a permanent replacement for Edu, who left his position in November, and he has 12 years of experience with Atletico Madrid.
Berta will now begin work in north London and may be in attendance at Arsenal's Premier League match against Fulham on Tuesday.
The 53-year-old emphasized the effort that has gone into making Arsenal "a major force in European football," and he will now want to play a role in pushing the club to the next level.
"I am thrilled to be joining Arsenal in what is a hugely exciting period for the club," Berta told the press.
"I have watched with great interest how Arsenal has matured in recent years, and I have admired the hard effort that has gone into reestablishing the club as a major power in European football with a devoted fan base all over the world.
