The Southampton manager is furious at the contentious Liverpool penalty call.

Ivan Juric, manager of Southampton, feels Liverpool should have been given a penalty in the second half of their 3-1 loss at Anfield on Saturday. Will Smallbone gave the Saints an unexpected lead in stoppage time of the first half, but Darin Nunez quickly erased the lead. Mo Salah scored two penalty penalties in the second half to give Liverpool the victory, but Juric thought the first one was unfair. There didn't appear to be much in the area as Smallbone and Nunez collided, but referee Lewis Smith gave the penalty. Juric, the Southampton manager, is furious at Liverpool's penalty call. "They responded quite well," Juric said to BBC Sport. "We had some excellent first-half situations. The match was altered, in my opinion, by the [first] penalty, which was not a penalty. I'm happy with the way we performed today. "This can never be a punishment. Since it was 1-1 and somewhat altered the outcome, I apologize for what happened. Many of our yo...

Barcelona Femení defeated Real Madrid Femenino 5-0 in the Copa de la Reina semi-final first leg.

FC Barcelona Femení defeated Real Madrid Femenino 5-0 in the first leg of their Copa de la Reina semi-final.

From the first whistle, Barça's high pressing and relentless attacking movement proved too much for their opponents, dictating the pace of an intense match.

Salma Paralluelo scored the game's first goal in the second minute. A precise ball from one side of the pitch to the other enabled Paralluelo to move in at the back post and score with ease. The early goal set the tone for Barcelona, who used aggressive pressing to keep Madrid at bay.

It wasn’t long before Ewa Pajor doubled the lead in the 13th minute. After an initial shot from Paralluelo was parried, Pajor reacted instinctively in the box, following up to tuck away the rebound. The Polish striker's poacher instinct was on full display as he punished Madrid's defense.

Madrid did manage to generate some attacking opportunities, but Barcelona's high defensive line consistently caught them offside. The most notable moment occurred in the 22nd minute, when Caroline Weir appeared to have pulled one back, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside after she ran in behind and calmly slotted past the keeper.

However, Barcelona showed no signs of slowing down. Pajor added another goal in the 29th minute. Caroline Graham Hansen's determined run resulted in an attempt to cut inside and shoot, but the ball deflected perfectly into Pajor's path. Barcelona won 3-0 despite Madrid goalkeeper Misa Rodríguez's best efforts.

Before halftime, Paralluelo completed her brace in the 42nd minute, running to the back post and finishing off a well-placed assist from Graham Hansen. Barcelona's fluid attacking play left Madrid with no answer, and the visitors were in complete control by halftime.

In the second half, Ingrid Engen replaced Paralluelo, and Fridolina Rolfö replaced Esmee Brugts in the 58th minute. Madrid attempted to make up ground, but the wet pitch conditions, which worsened near the end, made it difficult to establish any rhythm against Barcelona's structured defense.

The final blow came in the 78th minute, when Pajor completed her hat trick. Rolfö, fresh off the bench, got in behind the Madrid defense before delivering a pinpoint cross into the box. Pajor was in the right place at the right time, tapping home to round out her incredible performance.

With the game effectively won, Hansen was replaced by Marta in the 84th minute, allowing Barcelona to finish strong.

By halftime, Barcelona had completely outclassed their opponents, reaffirming their dominance yet again. Their high press, clinical finishing, and ability to exploit Madrid's defensive flaws resulted in a convincing first-leg win.

Barcelona has already secured a spot in the final thanks to their commanding lead. A Madrid comeback appears to be impossible, given Barcelona's commanding goal advantage.

The second leg will be held on Wednesday, March 12th, at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, with Barcelona hoping to finish the job and advance to another final.

Thierry Henry was denied a joyful homecoming as France was defeated by gold medal winners Spain.

Exactly 36 years after Vinnie Jones, Dave Beasant, Lawrie Sanchez, and others ripped up the rulebook to propel Bobby Gould's Wimbledon to a storied FA Cup victory, Thierry Henry's France fell agonisingly short of capturing an emotional Olympic gold medal in front of a sold-out Parc des Princes in Paris. Henry, who gave his young French team the nickname the 'Crazy Ones' due to their fun-loving nature, won nearly everything as a player, and despite the stars appearing to align for a historic gold medal on home turf, the Arsenal legend was overshadowed by Santi Denia's slick Spaniards in a dramatic 5-3 extra-time defeat. Sergio Camello of Rayo Vallecano was their unexpected late nemesis, dunking French goalkeeper Guillaume Restes with 100 minutes on the clock to startle a stunned capacity crowd. And he delivered a virtual carbon copy of that finish with the game's final kick, charging in on goal as the French flung bodies forward to slot past Restes and cruelly ...
