Spurs crushed Everton in their first home game of the Premier League season
Van de Ven stole the show with a stunning 70-yard dribble that set up Heung-min Son for Spurs' fourth goal, although several of Ange Postecoglou's players performed admirably.

Dejan Kulusevski stood out in an unaccustomed No. 8 role, while 19-year-old debutant Wilson Odobert was energetic, and James Maddison returned to form.

"I think we are more dangerous this year," Van de Ven stated later. "Like the gaffer said, we can play down the side or through the middle, and two or three balls from Cuti [Romero] to Maddison were extremely dangerous." I believe there will be more threats from us this year.
"We need to step up this season. Last year, we finished sixth, so it was a successful season, but we want more. We want to win a trophy, that is obvious."

Postecoglou later characterized Van de Ven as a "special footballer," and the Dutchman attributes some of his success to the manager, who allows his players to experiment.
"I just decided to keep running, hopefully nobody could stop me, and nothing happened," he informed me. "I knew Sonny was on my left, so I kept driving at the center back, and when the time was right, I played Sonny in, and he finished well."
"I think the crowd enjoyed the situation. When I was dribbling the ball, you could tell that everyone in the stadium was getting excited, and it went off.
"We have the option to do this; Ange gives us the option to do so, and he never says, 'The centre-backs must stay behind'. This is how I feel most at ease playing.
"He trusts his defenders, and he trusts everybody in the team to do what they want to do, and it's really important for us to feel that trust and have the confidence to do it."
When asked if he was inclined to shoot, Van de Ven replied: "No - I saw Sonny and knew he would finish it off."
Bissouma scored his first Spurs goal after returning from a suspension for inhaling laughing gas in the opening-day draw against Leicester.
"Biss gave a really good performance, but you'll have to ask the gaffer if it's all finished now," Van de Ven observed.
