The FA board has approved England's bid to recruit a foreign manager.

According to The Guardian, the Football Association has approved a foreign candidate to succeed Gareth Southgate as England manager.

The decision was made during a board meeting where CEO Mark Bullingham obtained support for a global search for the next national team manager.

There was considerable internal pushback, but the FA is committed to appointing the finest candidate, regardless of nationality.

Sarina Wiegman's performance with the English women's team is thought to have impacted the board's decision.

Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel are early front-runners, but their salaries may be a sticking hurdle.

Pochettino just left Chelsea, despite taking the club to a historic sixth place in the Premier League. He has been linked with the England position since his time with Tottenham Hotspur.

Tuchel has also recently departed Bayern Munich and is open to fresh opportunities. The German's reputation in England has improved significantly as a result of his performance at Chelsea.

He won the Champions League, Club World Cup, and Super Cup for the Blues. He also led them to consecutive FA Cup finals and the League Cup final.

According to reports, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou are on the FA's radar.

Eddie Howe and Graham Potter are among the English contenders, although they fall short of the other options.

The FA is under pressure to choose a new manager swiftly, with England's next match less than a month away.

Lee Carsley, who led England's Under-21 team to European Championship triumph last summer, is the most likely interim option.

Bullingham is co-ordinating the recruitment process with technical director John McDermott.

He emphasized the need of succession planning. "Any organisation has a succession plan in place for their top employees, and we are no different," stated the CEO.
