🏆 Arsenal dominates Bolton, as Liverpool defeats West Ham.

This evening's EFL Cup featured an all-Premier League match, as well as a visit to the Emirates Stadium by League One side Bolton Wanderers.

Here's what happened.

Arsenal advanced to the next round of the cup after defeating Bolton Wanderers 5-1.

The Gunners' concerns were quickly alleviated when Josh Nichols' cross was diverted into the path of Declan Rice, who struck from 18 yards out and got his team off to a wonderful start with his powerful strike.

Bolton kept the Premier League team at bay for the next 20 minutes, until 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri scored his first goal for Arsenal, aided by Raheem Sterling's brilliant cross from the left.

That must have boosted the youngster's confidence, as Rice played in Nwanieri again, and he finished from just inside the penalty box.

Bolton responded, and after a rapid burst from a corner, Aaron Collins sprinted from within his own half, rounding 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter, and scoring a consolation for his team.

Raheem Sterling supplied some experience on the night, scoring his first goal for Arsenal after flicking in Bukayo Saka, and after his teammate's attempt was stopped, Sterling was there to tap in the rebound.

Another former Chelsea player, Kai Havertz, scored Arsenal's fifth, finishing on the rebound of Sterling's original shot.

Liverpool come from behind to defeat West Ham.

Liverpool advanced to the next round by defeating West Ham 3-1, with Diogo Jota scoring a brace.

West Ham put the ball in the net first, thanks to some clever play by Jarrod Bowen, but the goal was called out for offside.

That served as a warning sign for Liverpool, as the Hammers quickly gained a significant advantage. The home team failed to deal with a corner, and the resulting commotion saw Jarell Quansah poke the ball into his own net.

The lead lasted barely four minutes, however, when Federico Chiesa volleyed the ball hard into the ground and Diogo Jota rose to an inconceivable height to score.

Jota added his second not long after halftime, although it was Curtis Jones who scored when he carried the ball from his own half, played a quick one-two, and then sent a reverse pass for the Portugal international to finish.

Mohamed Salah's excellent work created an opportunity for substitute Alexis MacAllister, and the Egyptian scored on the rebound after the initial shot was saved.

Cody Gakpo secured the tie with a superb low finish from just inside the box, before adding his second and Liverpool's fifth goals.

The fourth round draw will take place following the completion of the match at Anfield.
