After suffering a season-ending knee injury last weekend, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen has chosen to be replaced by Barcelona immediately. The German goalie will be replaced by Wojciech Szczesny, who has already reached a personal terms deal to rejoin Hansi Flick's team after coming out of retirement at the age of 34.
Monday is the day for the medical, however due to technological issues, the transaction has been postponed for the past few of days. Due to this, Barcelona has requested that La Liga activate Article 77, which would result in the revocation of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen's salary in the amount of 80% and let Szczesny to register.Breaking: La Liga has given Barcelona the green light to sign Szczesny.
According to MD, their plea was approved. La Liga has received all of the paperwork pertaining to Ter Stegen's injury, and they are satisfied that his injury fits the conditions (absence for four months or more) for Article 77 to be activated.
