Liverpool is four goals clear after thrashing Spurs in a Christmas cracker with nine goals.

In the most memorable match of the season, Liverpool defeated Tottenham 6-3 to increase their lead at the top to four points. It was a Christmas special.

Fraser Forster wobbled again early on and clipped the ball right to Mohamed Salah following a terrifying performance against Manchester United midweek. The Liverpool forward's attempt was pulled wide, fortunately for the Spurs goalie.

Shortly afterward, Trent Alexander-Arnold threw a floating ball into Salah, who had another opportunity and fired directly at Forster.

Pape Sarr gave Spurs their first opening, but Liverpool was clearly superior during the first 20 minutes. Salah was getting closer and closer to score, evading multiple defenders before striking the bar.

In the 23rd minute, Luis Díaz handed them a well-earned lead. A beautiful pass was blasted in by Alexander-Arnold, allowing the Colombian to nod past Forster.

Thirteen minutes later, Alexis Mac Allister was on his way home, and they had increased their lead. The ball bounced up after Andy Robertson put it in the box, allowing the Argentinean to finish.

Four minutes prior to halftime, Spurs believed they had a lifeline when James Maddison finished deftly after Dejan Kulusevski dispossessed Mac Allister. Despite Liverpool's desire for a free kick, the goal was correctly awarded.

Salah sent Dominik Szoboszlai in, and he fired home inside the area to restore the two-goal lead in stoppage time.

It was more of the same after the interval, with Salah joining in after a quick counterattack finally brought the ball to him and finished from two yards out.

Just after the hour, he scored his second goal and Liverpool's fifth, and the Reds were merciless once more. After another swift counterattack, Szoboszlai squared the ball to the Egyptian, who only needed to touch it in.

After Dominic Solanke chipped the ball into his path in the 72nd minute, Kulusevski responded for Spurs with a beautiful close-range volley.

With seven minutes remaining, Brennan Johnson's header found Solanke, who finished beautifully to make it 5-3.

Soon after, Díaz scored another with a brilliant finish after Salah had slipped him, capping off an incredible display for both players and a thrilling victory for the league leaders.
