The Los Angeles Galaxy are the new MLS Cup champions, defeating the New York Red Bulls in a thrilling final Saturday afternoon.
The Galaxy quickly took a two-goal lead with goals from Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljić in the first 15 minutes, leaving neutrals in awe. While it appeared like the visitors would be blown away before they could find their feet, Sean Nealis' incredible control and finish allowed the Red Bulls to pull one back before the 30-minute mark.
In the second half, the two teams traded chances, with Emil Forsberg having the greatest opportunity just above the penalty spot, but the experienced midfielder somehow missed the post.
A late Red Bulls surge appeared to recover parity, but amazing Galaxy defending ensured they finished the game and won the sixth MLS Cup in club history.
