Manchester United has signed Southampton goalkeeper Kayla Rendell.

The Red Devils just announced the news in a post on their official club website.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper has initially signed with Leigh Sports Village until summer 2027, but Manchester United has the option to extend the contract by another year. It is understood that the Red Devils spent an unknown price to sign the player from Southampton.

Rendell came up through Southampton's academy system, joining the club at the age of nine. She quickly advanced to the first team and established herself as the club's number one goalie. Rendell appeared for Southampton in 134 games across all competitions while at St Mary's Stadium.

Rendell is widely regarded as one of England's best young goalkeepers. Sarina Wiegman, England's head coach, recently recognized her abilities and called up the athlete for her maiden senior international appearance. Rendell is currently waiting for her senior debut with the Lionesses.

After finalizing her move to Manchester United, Rendell stated, "It's a dream to be joining Manchester United, and I can't wait to get started."

"I'd want to thank Southampton for all of their support and chances since I joined as a nine-year-old girl. I'll always appreciate so many wonderful recollections from my stay there. Now I'm ready to advance my career and contribute to United's success."

Rendell is Manchester United's first signing in the January transfer window.
