The only criterion for the Round of 16 draw is that clubs from lower leagues meet La Liga opponents, six of which are in the draw. Pontevedra is joined by third-tier Ourense and Segunda División teams Almeria and Elche, which defeated Sevilla and Las Palmas in style, respectively.
