Barcelona hit out at La Liga, Tebas as war escalates – ‘A clear attempt at destabilisation’.

In a significant development, FC Barcelona has published a statement against La Liga, seeking greater discretion and confidentiality from the league over the club's financial problems.

In addition, they have announced their resignation from the La Liga Delegates Commission.

The Blaugrana have formally emailed La Liga to express their "surprise and indignation" at the league's publication on April 2 of an information note regarding VIP boxes at Spotify Camp Nou.

Barça has asked La Liga president Javier Tebas and other members of the organization to refrain from making any comments or assessments about the economic information that the club shares with La Liga, citing the data as secret.

The contentious memo, titled "On the Corporate Operation Related to VIP Boxes Communicated to La Liga by FC Barcelona at the End of December," was issued by La Liga with no previous notification or consent from Barcelona.

The Catalans consider this a breach of confidentiality and have asked La Liga to respect the private nature of the financial documents supplied.

The league leaders have also criticized what they see as La Liga's unethical behavior, which includes releasing fiscal facts shared by the club and publicly publicizing decisions made by regulating bodies against them.

According to the club, this is a "blatant violation of La Liga's obligations to one of its affiliates, as well as a breach of budgetary commitments".

Barcelona emphasises that La Liga is still obliged by this obligation of confidentiality, even though identical material has appeared in the media.

The Catalans claim that the governing board and all of its members must "abstain from confirming, ratifying, or contradicting" any economic data presented by the club.

Barça also expressed worry that the note's publication has sparked "a large-scale defamation campaign" in the media against both the club and its president, Joan Laporta.

Tebas has also faced criticism for his public comments on Barcelona players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. The club emphasizes that both players were "lawfully registered, as reaffirmed by the National Sports Council (CSD) in its resolution of April 3, 2025."

Barcelona describes Tebas' words as "a clear attempt at destabilisation that is unacceptable" coming from the competition's organising body.

To protect their interests, Barcelona has taken proper measures and submitted a formal request that La Liga refrain from publicly publishing any details or data relating to the material or paperwork provided by the club.

They have also requested that the information note published on April 2 be removed from the league's official website immediately.

As previously stated, Barcelona has decided to resign from the group of teams that now serve on La Liga's Delegate Commission as a result of a joint candidacy.

Meanwhile, in their statement, Barça acknowledges that La Liga has appealed the CSD's decision on the registration dispute.

The Catalans insist on receiving a copy of this appeal so that they can respond to what they believe are false charges, and they encourage La Liga to stop from seeking to influence legal judgments through public statements that lack rigour and objectivity.
