Andre Onana’s dire performance leaves Man Utd’s Europa League quarter-final on a knife edge .

If there was some evidence to back up Andre Onana's claim that Manchester United are "way better" than Lyon, Nemanja Matic's accusation was strengthened. The goalkeeper dubbed one of the worst in United's modern history had one of his worst nights in their jersey, with a pair of errors adding to Matic's case. Arguably, United outperformed Lyon, but the scoreboard did not reflect this, as a semi-final spot remained on the line. That was due to Onana's errors, which allowed Lyon to equalise in the 95th minute when he pushed Georges Mikautadze's shot right back out. Rayan Cherki followed up and tapped in. "The worst moment to concede a goal," stated Leny Yoro. There was no attempt to sugarcoat the situation; nor could there be. Ruben Amorim of Onana commented, "There is nothing I can say now to help him," but he did provide an endorsement. "I am really confident in Andre." Amorim felt that the tie is "50-50,...

Mats Hummels, a six-time Bundesliga champion, 2014 FIFA World Cup winner, and one of German football's best defenders, has announced his retirement at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Hummels, who departed the Bundesliga for Italian club Roma in the summer of 2024 and turned 36 in December, revealed his decision in a poignant message on his X channel.

Hummels, one of the contemporary game's most successful central defenders and renowned for his passing range, began his career with Bayern Munich before winning back-to-back Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund under Jürgen Klopp.

When he returned to Bayern, he won four more league titles and played a key role in Germany's 2014 World Cup victory in Brazil.

Throughout his career in Germany, the 78-time international won four DFB Cups and six Supercups.

In total, he made 508 competitive appearances for BVB and 118 for Bayern. The Bergisch Gladbach native has previously made 18 appearances for Roma in 2024/25.

Thierry Henry was denied a joyful homecoming as France was defeated by gold medal winners Spain.

Exactly 36 years after Vinnie Jones, Dave Beasant, Lawrie Sanchez, and others ripped up the rulebook to propel Bobby Gould's Wimbledon to a storied FA Cup victory, Thierry Henry's France fell agonisingly short of capturing an emotional Olympic gold medal in front of a sold-out Parc des Princes in Paris. Henry, who gave his young French team the nickname the 'Crazy Ones' due to their fun-loving nature, won nearly everything as a player, and despite the stars appearing to align for a historic gold medal on home turf, the Arsenal legend was overshadowed by Santi Denia's slick Spaniards in a dramatic 5-3 extra-time defeat. Sergio Camello of Rayo Vallecano was their unexpected late nemesis, dunking French goalkeeper Guillaume Restes with 100 minutes on the clock to startle a stunned capacity crowd. And he delivered a virtual carbon copy of that finish with the game's final kick, charging in on goal as the French flung bodies forward to slot past Restes and cruelly ...
