Milan secured a crucial three-point haul away from home with a convincing 4-0 victory over Udinese.
Milan dominated the game against Le Zebrette at the Bluenergy Stadium, with Rafael Leão scoring in the 42nd minute with a superb finish past Maduka Okoye from range.Strahinja Pavlović headed in a corner from Christian Pulisic, doubling Milan's lead after three minutes.
Just under ten minutes after the restart, Milan shot-stopper Mike Maignan collided with Alex Jiménez outside the area, prompting medics to rush to assess the Frenchman.
Maignan would eventually be stretchered off and replaced by Marco Sportiello, with early signals appearing more promising than anticipated.
Jiménez would continue to play after the incident, but he was replaced in the 73rd minute because the Spanish defender had not entirely recovered from the hit he received earlier.
Theo Hernández added two more goals before the final whistle, while Dutch star Tijjani Reijnders scored his tenth goal of the season, condemning Udinese to their worst defeat of the season.
Reijnders became only the second Dutchman in Milan history, following Marco van Basten, to score double-digit Serie A goals in a single season.
With this result, Milan is now one point behind Fiorentina (8th) and two points behind Roma (7th), with plenty of time left in the season to continue their league campaign.
