Manchester City is expected to sign Rodri to a long-term contract extension.

The biggest injury blow for Manchester City this season was Rodri's ACL injury in September during City's 2–2 draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. The absence of City's midfield commander has been noticeable throughout the season. There's a case to be made that Manchester City's season never recovered after losing Rodri. Real Madrid forward issues apology to teammates and Alaves midfielder after red card incident .

Kylian Mbappe was sent off after a violent tackle on Antonio Blanco during Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Alaves.

While the player had a moment of self-reflection, he lost no time in attempting to make amends.

According to AS, the French forward walked straight to the Alaves dressing room after the match to personally apologize to Blanco.

Interestingly, that wasn't it. The former PSG forward also apologized to his Real Madrid teammates for leaving them one player short.

Fortunately, Alaves suffered a red card 70 minutes into the game, with Manu Sanchez getting his marching orders.

Mbappe regrets his actions.

Mbappe is believed to have been highly disappointed with himself for his lack of discipline. The attacker was frustrated by the red card, particularly because it was his first since 2019.

Fortunately for Real Madrid, the problem may not be as pricey as initially thought.

This is because Mbappe faces a possible three-game ban for the tackle, although all indications point to a two-game punishment.

Furthermore, the penalty will not keep him out of the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, which is a relief for both the player and the club.

All is good between Mbappe and Blanco.

On the other hand, Blanco has politely accepted Mbappe's apologies. Following the game, the Alaves midfielder stated that there are no bitter feelings between the two players.

"That was a strong tackle. I spoke with Kylian, and he apologized; there is no issue. "These are actions that can occur in football," Blanco said.

Finally, his calm and understanding demeanor enabled the Real Madrid forward to begin the process of redemption and rehabilitation after a difficult moment in the game.

Thierry Henry was denied a joyful homecoming as France was defeated by gold medal winners Spain.

Exactly 36 years after Vinnie Jones, Dave Beasant, Lawrie Sanchez, and others ripped up the rulebook to propel Bobby Gould's Wimbledon to a storied FA Cup victory, Thierry Henry's France fell agonisingly short of capturing an emotional Olympic gold medal in front of a sold-out Parc des Princes in Paris. Henry, who gave his young French team the nickname the 'Crazy Ones' due to their fun-loving nature, won nearly everything as a player, and despite the stars appearing to align for a historic gold medal on home turf, the Arsenal legend was overshadowed by Santi Denia's slick Spaniards in a dramatic 5-3 extra-time defeat. Sergio Camello of Rayo Vallecano was their unexpected late nemesis, dunking French goalkeeper Guillaume Restes with 100 minutes on the clock to startle a stunned capacity crowd. And he delivered a virtual carbon copy of that finish with the game's final kick, charging in on goal as the French flung bodies forward to slot past Restes and cruelly ...
