Aitana Bonmatí, the winner of the Ballon d'Or, has signed a new four-year contract with Barcelona, making her the highest-paid female footballer.

According to ESPN sources, the Spanish midfielder now earns more than the top earners in the Women's Super League and National Women's Soccer League, who each make €600,000.

The 26-year-old, who came up through Barcelona's academy, has established herself as one of the game's top players, winning three Champions Leagues, the World Cup, and other individual awards in recent years.

Her previous contract was set to expire next year, but she has already signed an extension until 2028.

With the new season approaching, she is also on track to reach 100 goals for Barça, having previously scored 96 in 275 games.
