Wrexham AFC, co-owned by Hollywood celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has earned a historic promotion to the Championship, bringing them one step closer to their Premier League ambitions.
Celebrity owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds saw the club's 3-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at the SToK Racecourse on Saturday, which earned them promotion from League One.
Reynolds reflected on the voyage in an Instagram post on Sunday, recalling the initial criticism surrounding their bold Premier League aim.
He explained: "We've only been with Wrexham for a short time, yet so much has transpired.
"During the first press conference, Rob stated, 'The Premier League.'"
"Everyone laughed. They had every right to. It appeared insane. But we were not kidding."

The Deadpool star added that he feels "at home" in Wrexham, which he describes as a "place that values community, decency, and history."
He mentioned their "respect" for the 1934 mining fire, the Gresford Colliery accident, and the "feeling of hope and miracles created" by ex-Wrexham and Manchester United footballer Mickey Thomas, who was also present at the match on Saturday.
Reynolds stated that Wrexham "made history" with their third promotion, adding that "that doesn't happen without the wisdom of (manager) Phil Parkinson and his coaching staff, or the talent" of the team.
He added he "saw Sam Smith create a frightening blend between football and martial arts, scoring our second goal yesterday," after midfielder Oliver Rathbone took an early lead with the first.
"The stadium feels like a church," Reynolds explained.
"I know a lot of you now. Since February of 2021, I've seen infants become regulars.

"And some regulars leave us for good. We've had the honour of scattering loved ones' ashes across that land. I've even observed every available hand shovel snow off the pitch to prevent a match from being canceled.
"Someone once claimed the Welsh have the 'heart of a poet and the fist of a fighter.' That's what I enjoy about this place. I wish the entire globe could visit Wrexham. Diolch (Thank you).
Along with the tweet, he included photos of himself hugging McElhenney, his wife Blake Lively, and celebrating with the squad.
Since McElhenney and Reynolds took charge in February 2021, Wrexham gained their second promotion to League One last year, following a stint in League Two in 2023.
They have also helped the team get international notice with their FX documentary series Welcome To Wrexham, which aired for three seasons and won eight Emmys.
The fourth season is planned to premiere next month.
